APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
The Star Wars: The High Republic series kicks off with a mind-blowing first book that introduces a galaxy even further away. Two centuries before the timeline of the Star Wars movies, the Galactic Republic was a strong and benevolent interplanetary government. But when an aging freighter ship traveling at unfathomable speeds breaks apart mid-flight, the wreckage hurtles toward inhabited planets and threatens to kill billions. We were fully on board for this exciting adventure, in which we meet an earlier generation of Jedi as they band together to try and avert disaster—and discover what, or who, is behind the catastrophe. Full of new history and mythology, Light of the Jedi is a fascinating read. The story’s explosive action is matched by the political intrigue, setting up a universe of possibilities for future installments.
Great Star Wars read
This was a well-paced introduction to a new time in the Star Wars universe. The reveals feel earned and with an appropriate amount of Deus ex machina for Star Wars through luck and The Force.
It’s interesting to meet the new characters and especially to see the Jedi Order at a height of capability we haven’t previously seen. It’s fascinating to think about what we might get to read or see that will bridge this time to the time of the The Phantom Menace and the movies.
