• You want to love your work, work for what you love, and have a positive impact on the world—all at the same time.
• You’re inspired by charity: water, method, and FEED Projects and want to learn how these organizations got their start.
• You’re curious about how someone who never made a pair of shoes, attended fashion school, or worked in retail created one of the fastest-growing footwear companies in the world by giving shoes away.
• You’re looking for a new model of success to share with your children, students, co-workers, and members of your community.
You’re ready to start something that matters.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Best known as the founder of TOMS Shoes and as a contestant on The Amazing Race, Mycoskie uses his experience with TOMS, as well as interviews with leaders of non-profits and corporations, to convey valuable lessons about entrepreneurship, transparency of leadership, and living by one's values. The brilliant, simple mission of TOMS (for every pair of shoes purchased, they will give another pair away to children in need around the world) has inadvertently turned its customers into brand ambassadors, making this for-profit company with defined charitable goals wildly successful. Mycoskie deftly balances personal tales about starting a business with generally applicable lessons. While his story sometimes becomes repetitive and he treads familiar ground with start-up tales (motivate your overworked interns by feeding them, never be afraid to get your hands dirty), he offers excellent advice about the importance of honesty and principles in business. This book will appeal to the Millennial generation, who are known for seeking socially relevant jobs, as well as older workers looking to get back in touch with their values.

The Best Book On Business I’ve Ever Read
I’ve read many books on business, and none of them reach the height of this book. It’s truly inspiring, truly subversive, and truly delightful.
Terrible! This is all promotion for TOMS
Fun fact Blake never wanted to write a book! In one of his YouTube interviews he himself said that this publishing deal was offered to him! The main reason for offering him that deal was because the company “Toms” was trending. To get the book out of the way he flew to New York to write it.
This book is by far one of the most uninspired business books I have ever read! There are far too many examples. Throughout the book he continues to promote his friends by bringing up their books for example he’ll say “in one of my great mentor’s best selling book called (the business man) he shows you how to be a great business leader. He repeats this with different books from his buddies all throughout the reading.
You will not learn how to start something that matters instead you will learn examples of companies who are ethical with unhelpful stories that have nothing to do with business while persuading you to buy books! Also every link he includes to the website “start something that matters.com” will take you directly to TOMS website where you are persuaded to buy buy buy! Profits over Knowledge is the message I got from this book!
Motivational
This book has inspired me so much. So glad that I was able to read this book. I was able to gain a new perspective on for-profit businesses.
