Publisher Description

Widowed schoolteacher Lainie Lovett has three passions: her two nearly-grown children, her fourth-grade students at the Hopwell School, and the Rockettes, her recreational soccer team. One evening after soccer practice, she’s startled to spot the husband of one of her teammates canoodling with another woman in a local eatery. She’s even more shocked when he turns up dead the next day. And more shocked yet when she winds up under suspicion as an accessory to murder. But Lainie is smart and she’s stubborn. She’ll figure out who killed her teammate’s husband—if she can stay out of jail, if she can stay alive, and if she can hang onto her sense of humor.

Still Kicking

I really like the main character, Lainie Lovett. She’s a soccer- playing 4th grade teacher who solves the murder of her teammate’s husband after being charged with being an accessory to the crime. Lainie is a believable teacher who is so like many of the teachers I know....strong, doesn’t suffer adult fools well, and worries about her students’ (past and present) welfare.
I liked how the author handled Lainie’s first male involvement since the death of her beloved husband. Her emotions and concerns rang true for her age and experience.
Look forward to reading more books about Lainie Lovett!

Still Kicking

I thoroughly loved this book. Mystery, quick witty humor throughout the story. The author made me feel like I was one of the close friends. Alittle subtle cussing...but when said--the tension of the situations eased a great deal. NO using God's name in vain. I appreciated that so much. If it hadn't been for Lainie Lovett, the bungling or seemingly inept police detective would have put innocent people in jail...and kept them in there.
New author to me. Yes, it was a free book. I read it in 2 days-late into the wee hours! I am a new fan. Will gladly pay for future books of this writer. I highly recommend Judith Arnold!!!
