Someone from the life she can barely remember living knows exactly who she used to be, and they're willing to spend soldiers to prove it. At the same time, a formal oversight inquiry is quietly reopening the case no one was supposed to reopen: the training-field assassination that should have ended her at sixteen, and the officers — a Senator, an Admiral, a Colonel with a very tidy paper trail — who made sure it was never properly investigated the first time.

As the hearing peels back layer after layer of a cover-up reaching further up the chain than anyone wants to admit, the people responsible for burying the truth once are running out of ways to bury it a second time.
