Publisher Description

Twenty-two years ago, Sam and Dean Winchester lost their mother to a mysterious and demonic supernatural force. In the years after, their father, John, taught them about the paranormal evil that lives in the dark corners and on the back roads of America...and he taught them how to kill it.

Sam and Dean have hit New York City to check out a local rocker's haunted house. But before they can figure out why a lovesick banshee in an '80s heavy-metal T-shirt is wailing in the bedroom, a far more macabre crime catches their attention. Not far from the house, two university students were beaten to death by a strange assailant. A murder that's bizarre even by New York City standards, it's the latest in a line of killings that the brothers soon suspect are based on the creepy stories of legendary writer Edgar Allan Poe.

Their investigation leads them to the center of one of Poe's horror classics, face-to-face with their most terrifying foe yet. And if Sam and Dean don't rewrite the ending of this chilling tale, a grisly serial killer will end their lives forevermore.

Alright

It was alright it didn’t give off the vibes that Sam and dean do in the show. Dean!❤️😊

Did the author even WATCH the show?

The main characters written here are completely different from their TV depictions. Don't expect this to be an adequate substitution for watching an episode. The story line wasn't horrible, surprisingly. Although a little convoluted, with certain "ah-ha!" moments that don't quite track, each case was somewhat reasonable-ish. While Sam and Dean are moronic and have no charisma in this story, the other characters are worse. What I found most annoying was the NYPD officer's treatment of the brothers with no real explanation, and the fact that the author wrote the brothers saying and acting completely out of character. The brother's characters have been well developed over the past several seasons, but it's like the author has never even watched the show. Also, the author writes as though his entire audience is in the 3rd grade.

Supernatural

I read the book and thought it was okay. If you've seen the television show and you're a fan of it, it might be harder to read this because you'll judge the book a lot more and over analyze everything. It wasn't a bad book. I haven't read the other books in this series but I think they'll be able to do more with it and I think they'll probably get better as they go along. If you're a fan of Supernatural I would still suggest reading the book.
