National bestselling author L.A. Banks’s electrifying new paranormal series is set in a sizzling world where Dark and Light are trapped in an eternal struggle for the fate of mankind.
Celeste Jackson has fought all her life against a fog of hallucination and substance abuse, but it’s not until she meets her protector, Azrael, an angel who has left the safety of the Light, that she learns of the evil forces that have been trying to ruin her, and why. A fierce battle for control of the mortal realm is brewing, and only Celeste—with the help of the Remnant, her half-human, half-angel brethren—can stand in the way. Together, Celeste and Azrael must gather an army of sensitives to defeat the dark powers that have ruled humanity for centuries, but time is running out. If Azrael surrenders to his growing desire for Celeste, he risks being trapped among humanity forever. But the longer he stays, the harder she is to resist. To save the world, Celeste must draw on her own dark experiences with addiction to help Azrael overcome the one temptation that could possibly make him an eternal prisoner—his obsession with her.
Bestseller Banks (Shadow Walker) packs plenty of drama, religion, the paranormal, and urban grit into this flashy series launch. Celeste Jackson has spent most of her 33 years battling grief, pain, and hallucinations. The last thing she expects is for her angel protector, Azrael, to appear and inform her that she is a Remnant, a rare human angel crossbreed, and will be pivotal in the next showdown between Light and Dark. As Celeste experiences a powerful cleansing of her body, mind, heart, and spirit, she starts to trust the devastatingly handsome angel, not realizing that his attraction to her could keep him trapped on Earth forever. Banks's characters are occasionally obscured by heavy-handed religious dogma, and wading through the initial chapters is something of a struggle, but the final payoff and series setup is worth it.

I needed this
I found Ms. Banks name in a Sherrilyn Keynon book, Archeon. Curious I found The Curse and The Forsaken at a used book store. It became my pleasure to find and purchase the entire Vampire Huntress series. Good storytelling has gotten hard to find and female and black nonfiction writers rarely get to the masses. It was truly a blessing to see her on HBO during the premiere of TRUE BLOOD.
She created a myth that touched my personal beliefs and brought me back from a period of despair. I was excited to read her young adult series featuring Damali & Carlos' off-spring in spring of 2011. Something to share with my teenaged niece. While searching for news of the next edition I learned of her death.
Just fooling around the other night I found a excerpt of this new series. I now remember reading it before. I downloaded both books without a second thought. I will also purchase hard copies to share with others so that her voice will be heard and her stories of redemption and faith touch others.
Blessings to all who read her works, her daughter and family and the publishers for allowing her voice to be heard.
Surrender the dark
L.a. Banks is the most Inspirational writer I have ever read. I love her new series of angels and can't wait to read the next. The difference between her books is that I get my entertainment but
It turns into a spiritual uplift as well. I sure she knows that though....She is reaching to spread the Word and it's working!
