When my husband died, I never thought I would find love again.
I definitely didn't think I would find it in the arms of my younger best friend. Why would the hunky hockey player want anything to do with me? I'm a stressed out writer with a lot of baggage. Any other man would say, "HARD PASS!"
But Noah was the best man I've ever known, and if it wasn't for him, I might not be alive.
But am I ready to put my heart on the line again?
I've pined for my best friend for so long, that my teammates issued an ultimatum.
"Make your move now or one of us will ask her out."
They are just trying to push me, besides none of those jerks would ever be good enough for her. Makes me wonder if I even stand a chance.
Besides, what would a smart woman like her want with a dumb jock like me?

Take the Shot
Story was interesting and characters were good. Little too much bad language that really detracted from the story.
Was just okay
This book just missed the mark with plot & character development. The hero was well done. The heroine was supposed to be an older woman who’d suffered some devastating losses, but she acted so much like a young teenager it just wasn’t realistic.
It wasn’t so much of a friends to lovers because we only got a few pages of the friendship before bang, they jumped to being lovers (more like hookups).
And the resolutions to her issues just didn’t work very well. One outburst with her family & a knee-jerk reaction and then magically all was well.
Also a few too many side characters & their interactions. I just felt like I was being set up for the next 10 books. But I found myself skipping past them and skimming through the main characters to get to the end. All completely predictable.
Not inspired to read any more of this author’s books.
I recently got into the romance genre and was pleasantly surprised when this book was recommended by another author I love. It’s one of those keeps you at the edge of your seat books. I literally was glued to it for the day. It’s not a long and drawn out story, just long enough for everything to happen and make sense. I enjoyed the writing and the love story.
