"Filled with intriguing twists and characters and an overarching mystery that will keep fans coming back."—Kirkus Reviews
In this New York Times bestselling thriller from Iris Johansen, Doane needs Eve's skills and he'll do anything to get them…even if it means Taking Eve.
As a forensic sculptor, Eve Duncan's mission is to bring closure to the families whose loved ones have vanished. She knows their anguish—her own beloved daughter, Bonnie, was taken from her when Bonnie was just seven years old. It is only recently that this mystery was resolved and Eve could begin her journey to peace.
Now Jim Doane wants the same kind of answers that Eve always longed for. His twenty-five-year-old son may or may not be dead, and he has only burned skull fragments as possible evidence. But he cannot go to the police for answers without exposing his dark past, so instead he chooses a bold step to find the truth—one that takes Eve down a twisted path of madness and evil and into the darkest heart of her own history.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Bestseller Johansen's fast-paced 15th novel featuring forensic sculptor Eve Duncan (after 2012's Sleep No More) begins a new trilogy. A gunman taking a shot at Eve's adopted daughter, Jane, interrupts the quiet life that Eve and her longtime lover, police detective Joe Quinn, have been leading at their lakeside cottage outside Atlanta, Ga. To add to their woes, a madman, Jim Doane, kidnaps Eve and orders her to reconstruct the face of his late son, Kevin, from what he claims is Kevin's skull. While Eve schemes to escape her captor, Jane and Joe, who discover that the CIA has knowledge of Doane, race to rescue Eve before Doane can do her harm. That Eve can communicate while in a dreamlike state with her deceased daughter, Bonnie, adds some paranormal thrills. Johansen expertly ratchets up the suspense as the action builds to a riveting conclusion. First printing of 300,000.

Abrupt but good
Kept me interested right to where it stopped. All the characters are here. I agree, definitely an abrupt finish. But I'll preorder the next.
