The land they love might tear them apart…
Josie Star knew one day she’d step into her father’s boots and take over the Lone Star Ranch, but she hadn’t expected it to happen so soon. When her father collapses, she trades her corporate desk for a dusty tractor to shoulder the legacy of generations of Jewish Texans. She’s ready to take her place in the Lone Star’s history – with a little help from Easton McKinney. The ranch foreman is her lifelong best friend – and a man for whom her feelings once ran much deeper.
The Lone Star gave Easton the stable home his upbringing lacked, but when Josie returns, the dirt beneath his boots crumbles. She broke his heart when she left – and now she’s his boss. He’ll help her find her feet, but he won’t abandon his dream of running his own ranch. Maybe her homecoming is the kickstart he needs to finally move on from the Lone Star – and from her.
When Josie uncovers troubling family secrets, she needs Easton more than ever. But can he stay knowing she’s forever out of reach?
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Crowley (Home For Hanukkah) introduces her Stars of Texas series with a heartfelt friends-to-lovers romance. After Josie Star's father falls seriously ill, she leaves her corporate job in Minneapolis and returns home to Texas to run her family's Lone Star ranch, a role she always dreamed of one day assuming. Ranch foreman Easton McKinney, Josie's lifelong best friend, is equal parts "elated that she was home" and "dismayed at what that meant for his career." The Star family provided Easton stability during his chaotic childhood but with Josie taking over, he's starting to think about moving on. The more he considers what he wants out of his future, however, the more he realizes what he desires most is a happily ever after with Josie. As he gets her up to speed on running the ranch, they both wrestle with their evolving feelings. When Easton gets another job offer, they're forced to make a big decision about their relationship. It's refreshing to see a Jewish heroine in a cowboy romance and Crowley ably explores how Josie navigates her faith in rural Texas. Easton, too, is a lovable character whose internal conflict will especially resonate with anyone who's ever been torn between family duty and their own happiness. This series is off to a promising start.

Texas Cowboy Sweetheart
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booksprout and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
WOW!! What a fantastic way to start a new series! I can't wait for the other sisters after reading this!
This story is written in a dual POV format. That is my favorite. Getting that glimpse into both of the main characters thoughts really helps me to better understand and connect with them. That was very important here. I wouldn't have understood Easton at all if I didn't get "inside his head".
There were some really great scenes. I went through the spectrum of emotions here. Some of the conversations were hilarious. Some were thought provoking. Miscommunication between best friends at it's best. They supposedly know each other inside and out but still are giving and getting missed signals!
There were some sexy scenes but were highly glossed over in the details. That being said I would highly recommend this story.
Texas Cowboy Sweetheart
Texas Cowboy Sweetheart is book 1 in the Stars of Texas series by Rebecca Crowley, a new to me author.
Josie Star left the ranch for corporate America but when she gets a call from the foreman at her family’s ranch, Easton McKinney about her father’s accident she heads back home. Josie and Easton were best friends growing up and both hid their feelings, now lots of things have changed but can they find the way to a future together or will Easton move on….only time will tell…
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy (ARC) of this book from Tule Publishing. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
