Loose ends.....
The final novel basically wraps up loose ends and reveals some surprises, but seems to rush some pretty important historical events without providing any convincing context for why they occurred. If you're going to plan out a 12 book series, perhaps devote enough of it to a satisfactory ending.
Rushed ending...
I purchased the entire series and was disappointed by what seemed to be an ending that could have used another 100 pages. For a series that has had extremely detailed battle scenes this last novel felt like the author just got tired of writing and wanted to wrap it up and go home. If I could do it again I would have not started this series... hindsight is 20/20.
