THE BITER BIT

Once upon a time there was a rich, but greedy man who called Simon. He had a housekeeper Nina who was a clever woman and Simon respected her. Once upon a time Simon went to the market and bought a mule. Robbers saw that he bought a mule and devised a plan. On Simon’s returning way they one by one started to cheat him: “It is not the mule, it is a donkey!”. The last offender said: “Oh, my poor friend, don't you see that is a donkey and not a mule? you have been taken in by some wretched cheats.” Simon said that the stranger was a third man who told that he was fooled. “but I couldn't believe it,” and dismounting from the mule he spoke: “Keep the animal, I make you a present of it.” The rascal took the beast, thanked him kindly, and rode on to join his comrades.
