Publisher Description
It's moving day at Chez Holmes. Somehow, against Kit's better instincts, he and J.X. are setting up house together. But while J.X. is off at a writing conference, Kit unpacks a crate that should contain either old books or new china. It doesn't. Within the mounds of green Styrofoam popcorn is a dead body. A very dead body.
There goes the neighborhood.

A good read
This is the third series of books I've read from Josh Lanyon. He's a great author.
My favorite is his Adrian English series of five books. Excellent characters in that series, especially Adrian himself.
My second favorite is the Fair series.
The Holmes/Moriarity series is also very good, but I recommend reading the others I mentioned before reading this series. I just didn't personally like Christopher/Kit to the same extent that I liked Adrian or Elliot.
Still a great read though, as are all Josh Lanyon books.
These are great
I was enjoying the Scrabble series, but I like these even better—I love Kit’s narrative voice, and how the relationship between him and JX is complicated, with strengths and weaknesses on both sides. And then the structure of the murder cases being kind of based on genres toward which Kit’s editor keeps pushing him is meta in a fun way—and I feel like the crimes themselves never get too easy; there’s always some emotional toll. I read the series mostly for the romance and the fun snarky writing though, so I might not be the best judge.
