Fred Thunder had always loved industrial Truro with its zany, zealous zoos. It was a place where he felt surprised.
He was a cold-blooded, spiteful, whiskey drinker with pretty hands and curvy moles. His friends saw him as a bulbous, black banker. Once, he had even helped a funkelplopping injured bird cross the road. That's the sort of man he was.
