Publisher Description
Royce Devereaux isn’t your average sexy professor. He has a lot of rules in his professional and personal life. He keeps both worlds separated. He has to. He’s somewhat of a public figure—and yes, he’s made enemies climbing to the top. Being a world-famous paleontology professor doesn’t mix well with his romantic life. He likes his sex rough, and a whole lot of naughty. Which means his students are 100% off limits.
One problem. His new graduate student assistant, Kenzie. She looks at him like a kid looks at birthday cake, and he doesn’t like it. Except, he does. He likes it too much. She’s feisty and smart—which only makes him want to tie her up and master her body. And her buttoned-up librarian look—it makes him want to strip her naked…slowly. He has to find a way to ignore her. It’s only one semester. Right?
But when an enemy decides to use Kenzie to force his hand, Royce has no choice but to keep her close. Very, very close. His two worlds have just collided. He just hopes he can let her go once the danger is over…
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Fossil smuggling, BDSM, and heart-stopping run-ins with the Russian mob power Smith's taut, well-characterized fourth Surrender novel (after The Gilded Chain). Teaching assistant MacKenzie Martin is grading papers for her sexy mentor and boss, paleontologist Dr. Royce Devereaux, at Long Island's Hampstead University when thugs break into the office. They threaten her, hoping to use her as leverage to force Royce to authenticate a valuable velociraptor fossil. After Kenzie makes a daring escape, Royce directs her to meet him at the BDSM club where he spends his Saturday nights. He whisks her first to his mansion and then to Russia to keep her safe from the thugs' boss, soulless human trafficker and fossil smuggler Vadym Andreikiv. In between bouts of great, kinky sex, mayhem ensues, making long-term survival somewhat unlikely. But when all seems lost, Smith cleverly brings in the cavalry. Although some scenes of graphic violence are unpleasant to read, they make it clear that Andreikiv is thoroughly evil, making it easy for readers to cheer for his downfall. At the end, Smith tantalizingly whets the reader's appetite for the next book, which promises to be every bit as gripping as this satisfying installment. (BookLife)

Brilliant mixture
Well written and interesting story about, the encounter between good people and the bad smugglers people not respect ✊ for human being and destroy their historical identity. The theme was very interesting 📖📖📚👵🏻👏👍👀☝️Recommended 💝 She and Royce were like two neutrons 🌟 finally colliding after millennium of spinning around one another orbit, the explosions, or destroy both or turn everything into Silver and Gold. The author enrich ourselves with these subject not common in novels written.
Not good
Where was the set up? Where was the connection? The first chapter was already bad. These characters have no chemistry at all. I’m all for unrealistic stories that take me into a fantasy world. But this was like I fell asleep and missed part of the story. Kenzie says she loves him after they’ve been hooking up for what, three days? He proposes soon after. This relationship would end in a divorce. They haven’t even been on a date. The whole story was lacking.
Bland
I think the chapter should have started with a little bio on Kenzie and Royce. Then, some interaction with both; before Kenzie being attacked by goons to find Royce. All the times they worked together they didn’t really speak to each other personally- boring. So, I didn’t feel the connection towards each other. Kenzie would have never gotten close to Royce if she wasn’t attacked in his office on school ground (all her fantasies was far fetched). Then, he is so self-observed that she called him, left a message and he didn’t call to see if it’s an emergency(while she’s the only one left in his office)or if she is okay. She had to call him from her car after she escaped to tell him she was attacked on school property. While she’s at his home, she begins to talk about all these fantasies she had for him; and him vise versa. But no real sex connection was made between these two making their setup dry; even when they decided to hook up(it was lame & boring sex). You holding on to feeling for this long when you hook up you expect fireworks; what I got was sizzle😔. They fell in love without knowing each other-other than they are smart, love fossils, and well educated; then have a couple damp hookups then he’s proposing. I’ve read BDSM and this wasn’t it - it lacks a lot of what bdsm really is. This was a tame flame but not a fire 🔥 reaction or connection.
