“James Rollins knows adventure.”
—Chicago Sun Times
With The Doomsday Key—the latest Sigma Force blockbuster from New York Times bestselling author James Rollins—the critically acclaimed thrill-master continues to dazzle with an electrifying combination of history, religion, science, and adventure. The hero of Map of Bones, The Black Order, and other exceptional Rollins roller-coaster rides, Commander Pierce returns to solve a centuries-old secret, one coded in prophecies of doom—in a story that fans of Michael Crichton, Douglas Preston, and Indiana Jones will not be able to put down!
Bestseller Rollins's labyrinthine sixth Sigma Force thriller (after The Last Oracle) offers plenty of intriguing science and history lessons. Sigma Force director Painter Crowe gathers the usual crew Cmdr. Grayson Pierce; Pierce's best friend, Monk Kokkalis; lumbering Joe Kowalski to discover why an experimental agriculture site in Africa has been attacked and razed, killing everyone, including a U.S. senator's son. "The future of mankind" may depend, they learn, on the "Doomsday key," a strange substance brought to England long ago by ancient Egyptians that holds the promise of a new and powerful medicine. A few of the book's many highlights include genetic manipulation, traitorous beautiful women, illuminated manuscripts, saints, prophecies, curses and miracles. Rollins deftly juggles all this and more as the Sigma team races from the depths of the Vatican to the outer reaches of Norway toward an explosive confrontation with the shadowy forces of evil known as the Guild.

Truly a page turner!
This is my first James Rollins book read... and it, along with others, was introduced to me by the "$3.99 and under" book list provided by iTunes. This is truly one of those books that the pages keep turning... hard to put down! I had knee surgery on Friday, and had the book done by Sunday afternoon... and am looking forward to the next Rollins book that I purchase! Shame of it is, now all his books are out of that "$3.99 and under" category. However, if the others are like this, they will be well worth the price!
Seems to me that his writing is in the vein of Robert Ludlum, so if you enjoy that type of writing, this should be right up your alley!
This is the first Rollins Sigma saga book that I've read in a while and absolutely just realized how much I love this author and his story telling. After reading Tom Clancy's latest Novel "Dead or Alive" I realized how much better Rollins is - better story telling, and far easier to follow than Clancy, and Doomsday does not disappoint at all! Fast paced and "can't put down"...
Absolutely loved this book. Great blend of history, mystery and suspense.
