ONCE DESERTED…
Five years ago, when Gabriel Cavanaugh, Duke of Thurston, jilted Helena Sinfell and immediately married someone else, he had been forced to keep secret the reason why, even from the woman he loved. Gabe’s marriage soon descended into a living hell, and by the time his wife died two years later, his heart had turned completely against love and romance. So imagine his surprise when Sir Henry Sinfell asked if he would reconsider marrying Helena…and his own astonishment when he agreed.
TWICE DETERMINED
Helena needs to find a husband—and quickly—to save her family from financial ruin, but the last person she expected to ride to her rescue was Gabe, who once shattered her heart and left her believing she wasn’t good enough to be his duchess. He’s still the only man she has ever loved, but now he’s changed. Gone is the caring gentleman she knew, replaced by a cold-hearted duke who has sworn he will never love anyone again. Including her.
With only one month until the wedding, Helena is determined to make Gabe care for her the way he once did. But when his brother Adam arrives on Gabe’s doorstep, long-hidden secrets emerge from a past that threatens to repeat itself, unless they can trust their hearts not to make the same mistakes twice.

Ending crashed and burned
This book was great, up until the finally 1/3 of the book. The H had a horrible brother who blackmailed, physically assaulted, threatened and did/said so many terrible things. Yet the h didn’t want him to get hurt, punched or given a dirt nap….all bc she was worried about the non-existent brother bond? And then the H questions everything simply bc his brother who was missing for 5 yrs made a comment? Then a child is kidnapped, but that person goes feee as well bc they got the child back? And they had to pay an extra fee for the delayed wedding due to the kidnapping in order to appease the minister? A duke worried about that? And then he decides the next day he loves his makeshift family? It just didn’t make sense, too contrived.
