The Element of Terror

People start dying suddenly and mysteriously in the United States. At first the deaths are attributed to an unexpectedly harsh flu season, but CDC scientist Dr. Susan Romano soon discovers the shocking truth. America is in the midst of a biological terror attack. She is teamed up with FBI special agent Michael Lane to determine the source of the outbreak and track down the people responsible for it. Suspicions fall first on an infamous U.S. Army lab in Maryland, but Michael finds a tantalizing lead pointing to Italy. When he and Susan zero in on the source of the infection, they become targets and find themselves running for their lives. With the epidemic raging and the death toll soaring, America starts to come apart at the seams. Riots break out and the President seems powerless in stopping the country from an uncontrolled descent into anarchy. Angry mobs rampage through major cities, outraged by the government's failure to supply vital medication. Millions of lives are at stake. When things seem like they can't get any worse, the team discovers that the epidemic was only a smokescreen for an even more sinister plan. In a race against time, Michael is the only person who can stop the terrorists.
