Publisher Description

She left a slave. She returns a conqueror.

As an Adept, Reiva blasts fire from her hands and leaps over walls. But when her first solo mission leaves her half-dead amidst a heap of massacred allies, she gets just one chance at redemption.

The Empire orders her to crush the one kingdom she thought she would never see again: Talynis, the land of her birth, the land she left in chains.

Standing in her way is the Wolf, a vicious assassin hellbent on killing Adepts—and a single cut from his cursed blade will destroy Reiva’s magic forever.

Even if she can survive, victory may come at a price too high to pay…

Utterly fantastic

It’s hard to describe how ridiculously good this book is. I can’t believe it is the author’s first book. I read a lot of fantasy series, and I love many of them. However, at times it's difficult to imagine the worlds, landscapes, scents, sounds, etc. There was no difficulty whatsoever in The Empire’s Lion. I felt completely transported, and the author thankfully did not spend inordinate amounts of time describing scenery. The characters were completely believable. They were human with flaws and insecurities. Tudor gave insight into the complexities of the main characters, and the reader is able to empathize, or at least understand, the drives of even the antagonists. I cannot wait for the next book. Do yourself a favor and stop reading this review, which fails to even shed light on the awesomeness that is The Empire’s Lion, and buy the book. Or read a sample first. I knew within the first couple of paragraphs that this book would keep me up at night, because I wouldn’t be able to put it down, and I bought it anyway. Worth it!
