Orientalist Depiction of Rumi-do not buy
This is a translation of persian Islamic poetry by a white Christian man who did not study Islam, Persian, or Sufism.
This inaccurate translation of Rumi’s poems is disrespectful and should not be purchased. This man became wealthy from using this poet’s writings and fame while erasing the Islamic content or references from the poems and translating them in a rushed, half-hearted way which removes the meaning and depth to them to cater to a western audience.
This is not the real Rumi who was a great poet and thinker, this is the western secular depiction of him from an orientalist lens. Please learn about Rumi from a different source so as to honor his life and works.
Do not contribute to increasing this author’s wealth at the expense of people’s traditions, culture, and faith.
