Another night at the races is more than burnt rubber with a hit of nitrous. For one young woman, it's navigating trauma, love, and loss in the stifling Texas heat under the watchful gaze of her brother’s best friend and reigning King of the Streets, Jordan Slater. Home in Arkadia again, Raelynn Casey starts to heal from a terrible incident at college. She finds love in Jordan, a member of her brother’s circle of racing buddies. When another in the racing circle, the guy who took her to her high school prom, exposes his feelings for Raelynn, tragedy erupts like a tank of race fuel. Guilt, remorse, and pain must be overcome before Raelynn and Jordan can race to The Finish Line.
What a great story! I hated every time I had to put it down to do something else, and I wanted it to never end. This author knows how to make you feel everything the characters are feeling. There is raw emotion and passion, and I even learned a little about street racing! Highly recommend.
Loving this book
I enjoy Earls. Dukes. The occasional King. Give me fancy ball gowns and candlelight and high-speed chases in well-sprung carriages. In a word give me a historical romance any day because I want to be transported. I took a chance on this book, a first-time author, and contemporary romance and I'll tell you I was hesitant to read it. However, I was thoroughly and pleasantly surprised by Ms. Scott and the cast of characters she created in The Finish Line. I want to be friends with them. I want to be the chick hanging out with all the guys talking cars and ya'll I don't even know cars. That's how good this was. So pick it up, give it a chance and wait, with me, and baited breath for the next one.
