Publisher Description
Introduction and Educational Context As the LIS field has developed over recent years, a number of LIS programs--as well as several related programs--came together to form the iSchool Caucus in 2004. According to the iSchool Caucus website (http://www. ischools.org), the iSchools' self-identity is "characterized by a commitment to learning and understanding the role of information in human endeavors." These schools embrace a vision "that emphasizes connecting people with information by designing, developing, and evaluating information technologies, systems and services." Further, there is an emphasis on bringing "together faculty from a range of more traditional disciplines to conduct multidisciplinary research," including disciplines from the sciences, business, education, and humanities.
