APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
If you’re one of those people who thinks that the perfect time to fall in love is never, you may want to pick up Abby Jimenez’s sweet and absorbing romance. Years after her fiancé’s death, love-shy artist Sloan is still grieving and broken. But one day, a runaway dog jumps through her sunroof and changes her life forever. Floppy-eared Tucker belongs to Jason, a handsome musician on the verge of rock stardom, who falls hard for Sloan despite her reluctance. Jimenez grabs you from the first paragraph, unspooling Sloan and Jason’s story in a series of alternating first-person chapters. The Happy Ever After Playlist is laced with sweet humor, sadness, sharp wit, and just enough drama to keep you reading past bedtime. Jimenez expertly conjures the thrilling, terrifying experience of letting someone new into a broken heart.
Revisiting the quirky cast of her debut novel The Friend Zone, Jimenez combines sentimentality, sexiness, and humor in this remarkable rom-com about finding the courage to take a second chance on love. Sloan Monroe is still grieving the death of her fianc two years earlier when she adopts a runaway puppy named Tucker. Caring for her new pet helps Sloan heal until Tucker's owner, Jason, finally responds to her messages. Jason is working overseas, so Sloan cares for Tucker until he gets back, with Jason texting and calling frequently to check in on his dog. After weeks of flirting over the phone, the two meet in person and Sloan discovers that Jason is really her favorite rock star, Jaxon Waters. As Sloan embraces their new romance, a demanding tour schedule makes finding stability harder than either of them thought. Sparking wit and vulnerable characters bring this story to life. Jimenez tackles deep emotions without ever losing sight of fun.
I really enjoyed it!
Loved these characters!!! Second chances are the best chances that help us to transition through those in-betweens 🥰
I had to purchase this immediately after finishing The Friend Zone because I needed to know more about Sloan and how she was faring. This book did not disappoint! A dog jumping through a sunroof while its owner was in another country and had no idea what was going on? The most adorable meet-cute ever! I loved these characters and their relationship. Abby Jimenez yet again makes such real life situations come to life in another beautifully written book. May even have loved this a tiny bit more than the first book. On to book 3!
