"A hilarious, tender, and altogether life-affirming gem of a book." --Emily Henry, bestselling author of Beach Read
A brilliant and touching romantic comedy about two polar opposites, one adorable dog, and living every day to its fullest.
When Vanessa Price quit her job to pursue her dream of traveling the globe, she wasn't expecting to gain millions of YouTube followers who shared her joy of seizing every moment. For her, living each day to its fullest isn't just a motto. Her mother and sister never saw the age of 30, and Vanessa doesn't want to take anything for granted.
But after her half sister suddenly leaves Vanessa in custody of her baby daughter, life goes from "daily adventure" to "next-level bad" (now with bonus baby vomit in hair). The last person Vanessa expects to show up offering help is the hot lawyer next door, Adrian Copeland. After all, she barely knows him. No one warned her that he was the Secret Baby Tamer or that she'd be spending a whole lot of time with him and his geriatric Chihuahua.
Now she's feeling things she's vowed not to feel. Because the only thing worse than falling for Adrian is finding a little hope for a future she may never see. Minnesota Book Awards winnerBookRiot, Top Books of 2021Goodreads, Best of 2021 Romance FinalistShe Reads, Best of 2021 Romance Winner
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
We had to keep the tissues handy while reading Abby Jimenez’s powerful and poignant romance. The book’s heroine, Vanessa, is starting to show early signs of ALS, a disease that has ravaged her family. She’s determined to live life to the fullest while she can, but her plans are cut short when she takes custody of her addict sister’s newborn. Workaholic Adrian can see his neighbor struggling with single motherhood, so he helps Vanessa out with small chores; what he doesn’t expect is that he’ll fall in love or reevaluate his life priorities. Life’s Too Short is a deeply emotional read. But don’t worry—Jimenez always delivers a Happily Ever After.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Jimenez delivers a swoony and heartfelt third Friend Zone romance (after The Happy Ever After Playlist) about navigating life's difficulties. Vanessa Price is a 28-year-old YouTube star who travels the world using her platform to raise money and awareness for ALS. With a 50% chance that she has inherited the disease, she's determined to live her best life now because she may not make it to age 30. But her adventures are cut short when her half-sister drops off Vanessa's infant niece, Grace, at her door and never comes back, catapulting Vanessa into the role of mother figure overnight. Vanessa's neighbor, the sexy and successful lawyer Adrian Copeland, is a workaholic with little time for a personal life until an earsplitting four a.m. meltdown from Grace brings him to Vanessa's door with an offer of help. Vanessa and Adrian's meet-cute develops into a steadfast friendship and eventually a slow-burn romance. But with Vanessa's health deteriorating, will their relationship survive after Adrian finds out that Vanessa may not? Jimenez masterfully blends heavy issues and humor, lacing the tear-jerking heartache with sass and sarcasm. Series fans and newcomers alike will be moved by this emotional rom-com.

Love !
Let me tell you life too short is what started my addiction to Abby. Her writing is so beautiful and the fact that the men in her books are a little bit similar to her real man it’s so romantic. I love her books.
Fun rom com!
What a great book! Vanessa is a free spirited travel blogger watching her sister’s infant baby Grace while Adrian is a strait laced controlled lawyer. After a hellish night of the baby crying uncontrollably, Adrian helps Vanessa and sparks instantly fly. They develop a friendship, based on the fact Vanessa says she doesn’t date (thinking she will develop ALS). But of course, feelings develop. Loved the back and forth showing their feelings while “thinking” the other doesn’t reciprocate those feelings. Loved the talk of medical chronic illnesses and how to affects not only the life of the person with it, but everyone around them. Overall loved 4.5/5⭐️
Why is this book a bestseller?
I found this book to be vapid. Maybe I went in expecting too much. It was suggested to me after reading Sally Rooney and now I can’t understand why. Rooneys books are deep and insightful and her characters speak to eternal questions we’ve been facing. This on the other hand are as light as they come.
