"Raymond Chandler is a star of the first magnitude." Erle Stanley Gardner
"Raymond Chandler has given us a detective who is hard-boiled enough to be convincing . . . and that is no mean achievement." --The New York Times

Killer
Brilliant. Perfect. Quite possibly Chandler's best.
Chandler rules!
Nobody writes like this guy. Another classic. I envy him.
Window needs washing
An overly complicated plot, less than stellar dialogue, and middling characters renders THE HIGH WINDOW one of RC's lesser works. Enjoyable, but a far cry from his works of genius.
