Jewel Heiss hates her pink-sparkle-sprinkled job. Her top priority is to protect Chicago residents from magic. But thanks to da mayor's Hinky Policy, "Don't ask, don't tell, cope," she has to lie every time she handles hinky containment and removal. Mostly she helps Chicagoans find positive ways to live quietly with magic.


When a con artist wrecks her best friend’s marriage using a magic bed, Jewel finds she can prosecute the con artist, or rescue the incubus trapped in his "treatment" bed, or save her best friend's marriage. But there's no possible way she can do all three.


With this much magic running around Chicago, Jewel won't keep the hinky from getting into the news.
