The Legend of 9-Guns

The story I am to convey is that of a young Spanish man I met in the spring of 1836. Some of the people in the region called this young Spaniard a hero, some a soldier, to most Anglo Texans he was called, 9-Guns the outlaw. 

All the descriptions fit him. I was one of the few Anglos who could call him, friend. 

This is his story, as much as I know; this is my story, as much as I will share. His name is Juan Hidalgo Montez, mine is Stuart Fit Simmons, I am a Scot, Tinker by trade, storyteller by choice, dang good at both, so some say.
