The Lights We Left

At 11:59 each night, Mara Venn sends the same message into the dark: "Earth calling." For thirty years, no one has answered. Then her daughter's voice comes through the radio.

Lena left Earth aboard the Asterion, bound for Vesper-9. The ship never reached its destination. Its survivors made a life on Meridian, where the Chorus can build rooms from memory and preserve a voice so completely that the difference between care and keeping becomes painfully hard to see.

To reach Lena, Mara must cross a path shaped by the history she has spent decades trying to repair. But reunion cannot return either woman to the moment before they parted. As mother and daughter confront what the Chorus calls love—and what each of them has mistaken for it—they must decide how much of the past can be carried forward without closing around the future.
