“The Mink and the Wolf” is a fairy tale entered in “The Orange Fairy Book”, that was published in 1906. In a big forest in the north of America lives a quantity of all sorts of wild animals. They are always very polite when they met; but, in spite of that, they keep a close watch one upon the other, as each is afraid of being killed and eaten by somebody else. But their manners are so good that no one would ever guess that. Once a smart young wolf goes out to hunt and comes upon the chief mink fishing in a canoe. He joins the mink and, being very hungry, begins to eat sea-urchins eggs, which were offered to him. The wolf feels asleep after repast, and the mink creeps up and stabs him to the heart with his knife. Why the mink did that? What will happen next? Read the story to know!
