The Pale Myrtle

Meara learned early that survival sometimes means becoming invisible.

Taken from her home as a girl and forced into slavery, she spends years learning how to endure silence, violence, and a life in which every part of her existence belongs to someone else. When she finally escapes into the mountains, freedom is only the beginning. She carries the past with her, along with memories she has spent years trying not to touch.

In a quiet valley, Meara finds shelter with Elira, an aging woman whose bluntness hides a deep capacity for love. With work, patience, and the slow rhythms of ordinary life, Meara begins to discover something she thought she had lost forever: safety. Then there is Arden, a quiet man who understands the weight of solitude and becomes someone she can trust without fear.

But freedom is fragile when the past still knows where to find you.

Across The Brittle Lone Myrtle and The Pale Wreath, Meara's journey moves from captivity and escape toward healing, belonging, and the difficult freedom of choosing the life she wants. As old memories return and the threat of her former master reaches into the valley, she must decide what it means to truly be free, and whether she can allow herself to belong to people who ask nothing of her except that she stay.

The Pale Myrtle is a quiet, character-driven fantasy about survival, trauma, found family, love, and the ordinary life that can become extraordinary when it is finally one's own. The two-book omnibus follows Meara from the loss of her first home to the creation of another, where the past cannot be erased but no longer has to determine what comes next.
