THE PIERCED EAR

Everybody belongs somewhere. The real question is not whether you serve, but which master owns your yes.

In The Pierced Ear, Joseph Wayne Dunn takes readers on a compelling, Scripture-first journey through Exodus 21, Deuteronomy 15, and the New Testament to uncover one of the Bible's most profound yet often overlooked pictures of discipleship. At the heart of the ancient law of the pierced ear is a timeless invitation-not to forced servitude, but to willing devotion born out of love, freedom, and trust in a worthy Master.

Far from defending oppression, Dunn reveals the powerful distinction between bondage and belonging. With biblical clarity and pastoral insight, he exposes the competing masters that quietly seek control of every human heart: fear, approval, ambition, appetite, bitterness, debt, pride, comfort, and self. Through careful examination of Scripture, he shows that true freedom is not found in self-rule, but in joyfully belonging to Jesus Christ.

Written with grace, conviction, and unwavering commitment to God's Word, The Pierced Ear challenges readers to move beyond cultural assumptions and rediscover the beauty of wholehearted surrender. Each chapter calls believers to examine the allegiances that shape their decisions, deepen their understanding of biblical freedom, and embrace the abundant life found in complete obedience to Christ.

Whether you are a new believer, a longtime student of Scripture, a pastor, or someone longing for a deeper walk with God, this book offers fresh biblical perspective and practical encouragement for living with purpose, peace, and eternal perspective.

The door was open before the ear was pierced. The choice was real. The surrender was willing. And the Master was worthy.

The question remains:

Who owns your yes?
