The Poor Calre is gothic novel by Elizabeth Gaskell. The narrative revolves around Clare, a daughter of cursed family. The luck seems to be never on her side. Clare has to live in a very desperate time, when social tension thrives towards the limit, Cathilics and Protestans are at the swords' points, and above all, she has to bear the curse, provoked by the sins of her father.
