Classic Roosevelt
Though repetitive at times, Roosevelt’s writing style of excruciating detail and an attempted lack of bias shines through in The Rough Riders. While the book is focused autobiographically, Roosevelt at times speak truths radiating well beyond the scope of war. Be sure to keep notes of these truths. Would recommend for any modern day American to understand and contextualize the opinions of the past
The Rough Riders
This is a fine first hand account of the establishment of the Rough Riders and their travails and engagement of the enemy in the Spanish American War at the close of the 19th century. Heroism abounds in Teddy Roosevelt's recounting of the various skirmishes in the jungles of Cuba and the battle of San Juan Hill that led to the surrender of Santiago, Cuba.
