Publisher Description
The original source is a ninth century epic harmony of the synoptic gospels, written in an effort to make the newly imposed Christian religion intelligible to the warlike Saxons.
The rendering is done in modern English alliterative verse couplets, using a chiastic structure of 75 cantos, to generate a vigorous retelling of the story of Jesus in the form of an epic tale, reminiscent of Arthurian legends.
