The Shadow Killer
I greatly enjoyed reading this book, and The Shadow District. Both books are beautifully written. The detectives display intelligence, kindness, honesty, and determination in their investigations. My only exposure to Iceland was a trip from Germany to the US via a stop in Iceland....so reading about the Icelandic people and their experiences during WWII was especially interesting. The descriptions of homes, farms, and people allowed me to vividly visualize the settings in Iceland. Flovent and Thorson are memorable characters of modesty, discipline, and courage. Their abilities to deal with arrogant, obnoxious, and pompous people in such calm, measured, and honest ways were really impressive. Even though the suspects and soldiers were at times full of rage and contempt, these guys just focused on solving the crimes! They showed tremendous insight and empathy when investigating Rikki, Josep, and the one eyed farmer. Excellent writing!! Hope there are more like this to come!
