Rule #3: Eat protein at every meal, making some kind of fish your go-to protein as often as you can. Take your weight and divide it by two—that’s more or less how much protein you should be eating in grams every day.
Rule #15: Eat at least ten meals a week at home (and cook them yourself). Restaurant portions are usually 40 to 50 percent bigger than what you’d serve at home—the more you eat out, the more you overeat. Set yourself up for success by preparing my turkey meatballs, hummus, and roasted vegetables on the weekend so that you will have go-to staples and no excuses!
Rule #18: Go to bed slightly hungry. Denied fuel for more than five hours, your body will start burning its own fat and sugar. Make a point not to eat after dinner and you’ll be burning fat while you’re sleeping.
Rule #20: Enjoy a splurge meal once a week. Unlike episodic bingeing, splurge meals are an ingredient in your diet. When you plan something, you are in control.

Good, easy read and to follow
Overall good, if not great (least for me).
The book is basically broken down in three parts; 1st "rules" and big picture overview. 2nd meal plans. 3rd recipes.
The first section was my favorite. Providing easy to follow rules, how and why they work and suggestions for following. The other two sections while interesting, I use more as examples of the first section. I've never been one for strict "eat exactly this" type guy (and yes I've lost a lot of weight and much better shape eating regular foods). But the overall idea certainly helped me, re-focus and reinforced some things.
And if you are a person struggling and don't know how to start, this book would be a good place to start. Good in that it can be done step by step, but also tells you the why's so you are gaining education. And education in health management (not just weight loss, but overall health) is like education in anything else. It is power. It is giving you tools to take action.
I'm more looking to lose that last 10 lbs and fine tune my exercise and food intake (I refuse to use the term "diet"). So while beneficial, I would have like a little more of "next steps". To be clear, you get exactly what the description of the books says. And is well written and easy to read.
I'd already purchased The Skinny Meals and wish I'd realized it would be much the same as found in The Skinny Rules. $14.99 spent for quite a bit of some word-for-word duplication.
Prior to finding this book at my library, I'd been bombarded by weight loss commercials, programs & other diet books. Nothing gave me what I was looking for until Bob decluttered everything. Following these rules, I lost 55 pounds over the span of two years. Now that I'm coming out of the weight loss mentality, I'd like to say thanks Bob! If you're tired of getting misinformed & receiving too many opinions, turn to this book-you can't go wrong. It really is a lifestyle transformation.
