Publisher Description
A detective with an impossible task
A seasoned Pinkerton detective, Joshua Brookings, is thrust into a perplexing mystery when his colleague and friend, Edward Harris, is kidnapped in Cheyenne. Assigned what seems like a straightforward mission, he dives deep into a decade-long mystery that unravels more than a simple abduction.
Forced undercover once more—a situation he vowed to avoid—he's not just battling criminal minds but also wrestles with his faith. In a den of outlaws, as the sole beacon of righteousness, can Joshua's beliefs withstand the storm?
A tale of deception, intrigue, and an undying pursuit of justice, will Joshua navigate the shadows of the West and find the kidnapped detective, or will the shifting sands of uncertainty engulf him? As the mystery deepens, Joshua must choose whether to stand firm on his beliefs or succumb to the challenges that threaten to consume him.
The Solid Rock is a Christian historical adventure novel about surviving in adverse conditions, rescuing people, and romancing a woman who doesn't trust men.
Book 5 in the Hymns of the West. A clean, faith-affirming story for readers of Laura Ingalls Wilder, Louis L'Amour, and Janette Oke.
Customer Reviews
The Solid Rock
The story line was good, the characters well defined but there were too many things that just didn’t work. Anyone who was drugged for 2 weeks would be dead without water. The main detective was such a cry baby. No outlaw would have ever trusted him. And whoever heard of a bad guy getting a letter of recommendation. I laughed at some of the nonsense so maybe that’s good.
