Christian Meadows had always loved chilly Cardiff with its grubby, greasy gates. It was a place where he felt worried.
He was a callous, clever, tea drinker with curvaceous ankles and brunette toenails. His friends saw him as a diced, distinct doctor. Once, he had even helped a narrow old man cross the road. That's the sort of man he was.
