The Starter

Great book. I thought this one wasn't as good as the first one, but it was good.

This is the second book of the GFL series. As noted in other reviews, the second book probably wont be your favorite, but is still high-quality writing. I think it has a lot to do with the types conflicts addressed. They are hard but necessary. This book has some disappointments and frustrations and doesn't have the same "riding-high" feeling. But I repeat: these are necessary for the characters and all done for a purpose. This book has the feeling of being informative. A lot of things get started, but nothing gets resolved. This isn't exactly surprising since 5 more sequels have been promised after this one for a total of seven books. I say you need to read this one with an open mind.

This book still has all the hallmarks of Scott's writing. A little science, a lot blood, and a ton of character.

Quentin and gang have a tough season ahead of them. Having arrived to their current position, can they keep their heads in the game? Quentin still thinks he knows better than everyone else and still has a lot of racism to overcome. Will Quentin's stubbornness and pride be the teams undoing?

I recently decided to become a football fan in support of my husband's love of the game. I really enjoyed my first season of fan-dom but after getting sucked into the games in this book, next season will be even better! Great story! Great narration! LOVE everything I've read so far (Earthcore, Contagious, Ancestor, Infected)! Looking forward to more! Thanks!
