When Lily secretly takes her cousin’s place in an arranged marriage, little does she realise the desire, or the dangers, that await her.
The Marquess of Westford only offered to marry disgraced Elizabeth Cosgrove to save her family’s honour. He has no idea that an innocent girl has taken her place.
When the passion he arouses in Lily only confirms his belief that she’s a wanton, how can she ever convince him of her virtue?
The Substitute Bride is a classic Regency Romance by forbidden romance author Noël Cades.
I almost never read historical romances, but since I absolutely enjoyed student-teacher books by this author I decided to give it a shot. Needless to say, I definitely wasn’t disappointed.
The storyline grabbed my attention right from the start and I read this book in one sitting. Both main characters were interesting and likable. Lily was sweet and genuine but also strong and loyal female lead. And Gervase was great alpha male, a bit arrogant at the beginning but luckily he soon realized Lily is just perfect for him.
Supporting characters also added to the story and I liked how the ending tied all together perfectly. Loved the epilogue!
