The Third Skillset

The world is full of teamwork. But teamwork a high risk activity. It often results in low productivity, inconsistency, even disengagement and conflict.  


Consultants and academics would have us believe teamwork depends primarily on leadership, emotional intelligence and other hard to define, hard to learn soft skills. This is only partly true.  


As a type of teamwork, Project management is likewise challenging. Standards like the PMBOK focus on hard skills, like PERT, Critical Path and Monte Carlo Simulation. But these often necessary hard skills are simply not sufficient for success.


The Third Skillset offers a different approach. It looks at the skills that lie between hard and soft skills. Accessible, consistent and easily applied, these foundational skills are a toolkit for more effective teamwork that anyone can use.
