It was a good read!
Lord of the Flies meets The Thing
Amazing book. As a long time horror fan, it takes a lot to make me squeamish… if you can make me squeal and squirm while reading… that’s something. 10/10
A little overrated
I was a little disappointed in this book given all its glowing reviews. I could tell it was well written or whatever, but I think it relied too heavily on gore/visceral body horror. I guess I was expecting something more existential or deeply unsettling, something that would stay with you, but it was more so just uncomfortably graphic scenes that felt a little overdone. Additionally, if anyone is actually reading this review, here is a warning that I wish I had before reading: there are several animal abuse/torture/killing scenes that span for multiple pages. I would have skipped this read if I had known.
