Publisher Description
Kennedy Martin is shocked when her ex calls days before his wedding, expressing serious second thoughts. Doesn’t he see his fiancée's actually the glaze to his doughnut? Now she’s got no choice but to crash his wedding and convince the man he’s with the right woman.
Instead, she crashes into the absolute last man she ever wanted to see: Maverick Owens, her old college nemesis. Maverick is still as awful, infuriating, and just The Worst as ever—even if he looks way too sexy in his cowboy hat. And of course he’s convinced she’s actually at the seaside ranch to ruin the wedding.
Now the only way to get some face time with the groom and save this marriage is to participate in all sorts of pre-wedding events…with Maverick. Stuck on a canoe, making small-talk at cocktail hour, and even a hoedown with her worst enemy? This just might be the longest week of her life…

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Bielman (Kissing the Maid of Honor) tugs at the heartstrings with this enjoyable tale of a second chance at love. Maverick Owens's beloved partner, Nicole, died of ALS three years ago—and with her, their dream of opening a veterinary practice in Maverick's rural hometown of Windsong, Calif. After Kennedy Martin's old friend—and onetime boyfriend—Reed calls her in a drunken panic from his bachelor party, she decides to crash his wedding, which is taking place at Maverick's family ranch. Maverick and Kennedy were college rivals. They haven't seen each other in seven years and they're shocked to reunite now, but the chemistry that always characterized their feud quickly reignites. In the week leading up to Reed's wedding, Kennedy and Maverick fall hard and fast for each other. But their future is jeopardized when Kennedy faces a tragedy, misinterprets a letter Maverick wrote to Nicole, and receives a coveted job offer in Boston. How Bielman manages to bring them from this crisis to their happily-ever-after is both somewhat surprising and emotionally fulfilling. Meanwhile, Kennedy's sidekick, Andrew, steals many scenes with his zany humor. This smart, heartfelt small-town romance will have readers eager for a return trip to Windsong.

Five feel good stars
This is the first book I’ve read by Robin Bielman and what a delightful book it was. If you enjoy small town romance, you definitely won’t be disappointed with this book. After Kennedy receives a call from her ex and now good friend, Reed, expressing doubts about his upcoming marriage, she knows she has to do something. She knows Reed and Elle are perfect for each other. She decides to crash the wedding and take her best friend, Andrew, along. What she wasn’t counting on was running into Maverick, her longtime nemesis. His family owns the ranch and inn where the wedding is to take place. Maverick knows Shortcake aka Kennedy wasn’t invited to the wedding and he won’t let her mess things up. I won’t leave any spoilers, but I highly recommend this amazing story full of wonderful characters, both four-legged and two-legged. Do yourself a favor and grab your copy and see what happens when Kennedy finds herself spending more and more time with Maverick.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book from NetGalley and Entangled and this is my voluntary and honest review.
4.5 Stars!!
4.5 Stars! What a cute rom-com! Although this book has sad bits mixed in, that’s life and just made me love the main characters more. A standalone book with an HEA ending. I caught myself smiling and laughing at the banter between Maverick and Kennedy and even getting teary eyed over the sad bits. If you’re looking for a funny romance that feels more like a real life story, this is a good choice! I’m hoping for future books about the secondary characters next! Super cute read and highly recommended by yours truly! You’re welcome!
