The White Slipper

Andrew Lang (1844 – 1912) was a Scots poet, novelist, literary critic, and contributor to the field of anthropology, best known as a collector of folk and fairy tales.

“The White Slippers” is a short kind story written by Andrew Lang about a king who loved hunting and it was his custom to spend several mornings every week. One day, rushing downhill as far as he could go, he injured one of his foot which remained very sore. The best doctors in the kingdom treated it with all their skill but it was in vain. The foot only grew worse and worse, and became daily more swollen and painful. And fortunately help was found out of nowhere, the royal shoemaker had a great idea how to help his majesty.
