Amazing series
I really wish the next volume in the series would come out already but I don’t know how high those chances are anymore.
Not the last volume, fortunately
After a 4-year hiatus, the 9th volume has been announced in Japan, as well as an anime version. I’m looking forward to seeing both. I still can’t give the series 5 stars, mostly due to the somewhat creepy underlying mechanics of the harem, as well as some slavery-adjacent aspects of the world, plus the somewhat intrusive game mechanics in the world. But the books still rise above that enough to make me want more of these characters and this world. This volume is was actually a good pause point, since it mostly wraps up a major story arc. But there’s plenty of things left to move forward on.
Could have been axed
The release window for the last two books were extended and there hasn’t been a jp release in 2 years, blaming Covid for this. A two year hiatus, or longer, isn’t uncommon and I’m hopeful that the novel will continue.
