To Kiss a King

I so glad King Eduardo got his own story, and he definitely got a good one. Over the series, we’ve known about the great love he had with his wife and how he tragically lost her to cancer. But he has a lot of life left to live, and so many parts of it were for others. His job alone, as King, is for the people. He has found joy in his children and grandchildren, of course, but something and someone just for him has been gone for a long time. Enter Claire. A successful and ambitious woman that needs Eduardo to accomplish her professional goals, but there’s also a personal interest. How can they balance the two? Claire has promises she’s made and Eduardo does too. Unfortunately, those promises are in conflict. But they’re willing to make a gamble on each other and trust and adapt to not only reach their professional goals, but their personal ones as well.

Romance is not dead when you’re out of your 20’s!

San Rimini’s king, Eduardo, whose late wife was such a well loved and lovely woman, and revered by all, still greatly missed years later by her subjects and her family. Claire, a career diplomat, who didn’t feel worthy or even have time for love. He is using his clout as the widower of his fairy tale marriage to push past the politics and pass an unpopular measure to improve his country. She is the new ambassador to San Rimini, well known for implementing an education program that she also wants to establish in San Rimini. They meet, enjoy each other, are attractive to each other.

Will his country accept him even dating another woman? Will she be willing to get to know him better if he will not push her program to be budgeted? How does a king even go on a date without it being all over the news?

This story was a good ending to the San Rimini Royal family’s love stories. I was less concerned about the supposed conflict of interest between the couple and more worried about how the citizens of San Rimini would accept King Eduardo showing interest in anyone other than his beloved late wife, Queen Aletta, who has been like a supporting character through all the books, even though it’s been 9 years since her unexpected passing at the beginning of the series. I did like the fact that this romance was about an older couple, with different types of concerns than a couple in their 20’s. Although not my favorite, it was well written, and solidly rounds out the series. I was provided this book free of charge in exchange for an honest review.
