Publisher Description
For rancher Chance Braxton, Josie Monroe was the classic girl next door. He’d fallen early and hard, but because her tender heart had belonged to his careless and indifferent brother, who took off years ago, Chance had been permanently friend zoned sinceJosie was a teen. Now Josie’s running her failing ranch all alone, and it’s time for Chance to step up and keep a promise he made to her dying mother–marry Josie and combine their ranches. Dare he hope that his proposal will eventually win her heart?
Josie Monroe doesn’t want help or need to be saved by anyone– especially her wealthy ranching neighbor and forever thorn in her paw Chance Braxton. The serious, way too handsome know-it-all cowboy has starred in way too many of her fantasies, but he still sees her as the heart-broken teen who sobbed her heartbreak on his shoulder. She’s determined to prove Chance and the town wrong. She can save her ranch and rebuild her father’s legacy alone.
Only Chance won’t leave her in peace. Then he proposes and Josie’s problems are just beginning. So why does her pulse kick up overtime he rides on her land and tips his Stetson?
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Holt (Mercy's Rescue) launches her Blood Brothers series with this tropey, entertaining contemporary cowboy romance. After Josie Monroe's mother dies, Josie is left to run her family's Texas ranch on her own. Josie's longtime neighbor, Chance Braxton, made a promise to Josie's mother on her death bed that he would look out for Josie. Chance has feelings for Josie, but knows that she's hung up on his little brother, Dev, since he's been the one to dry her tears every time Dev broke her heart. Determined to care for her and hopeful that she will learn to love him, Chance reveals that he is the one who holds the loans on her ranch and proposes marriage as a mutually beneficial financial arrangement. Josie reluctantly agrees, though she thinks that Chance's real motivation is to gain access to her family's land. Chance and Josie soon succumb to their mutual attraction, but communication issues and insecurities run deep, resulting in mutual misunderstandings. Holt packs this quickly paced story with sizzling love scenes and romantic angst. Fans of cowboy romances with strong female protagonists will be pleased by this series debut.
Customer Reviews
See AllSo good
Totally enjoyed Josie and Chance’s story. Josie finally realizes where true love leads her. Hope Dev someday straightens out his life and has his own story.
Josie and Chance
Well it took 2/3 of the book for Josie to dig her head out of.....the sand. She is a clueless woman and couldn’t see the writing on the wall in front of her. Chance on the other hand had way too much patience and should have kicked his brother’s butt many years ago. The author did a wonderful writing job though and kept me reading even while I was frustrated. All in all, a lot of emotions were in this book, and I enjoyed reading it.
Refreshing build of a love story
So refreshing to read a romance that builds a true love story that can trigger emotions the characters are feeling.
So many romance novels unfortunately rely on explicit and very descriptive sexual scenes which actually are major turnoff and I’ll stop reading.
This book presented a wonderful love story with just some mild sexual content.
