Publisher Description
To have a heart is to love, isn't it?
The faeries don't have hearts. Their war has devastated the world, and what little remains of civilization now lives underground as vampires.
Kara scrapes by as a hostess in one of Nocturne's many pleasure dens, a vampire nest buried in the catacombs. In a dying world, every day bleeds into the next. Then a stranger arrives who could grant her fondest wish—to be human.
Lucien is a pureblood vampire and a powerful telepath, born into darkness and never once seen the sun. Sent to Nocturne on a mission from his queen, he enters the territory of a rival clan seeking an alliance against the faeries. What he gets is anything but.
When betrayal turns a negotiation deadly, he finds an unlikely friend in a den hostess with a grand request: wipe her memories. All of them. It would erase her identity, her entire life. A cruel thing, but he might just oblige if it means finding a way out of Nocturne once the faeries come knocking.
Ugly Angels is a standalone post-apocalyptic romantic dark fantasy featuring vampire clans at war, evil faeries, and a content advisory for strong language, graphic violence, and intimate situations.
Customer Reviews
YA Fantasy
The pacing seemed a little off at times. Some events seemed over with too quickly. The story arc was good.
It’s not dark with violence. I’d consider it YA fantasy grim dark. The earth had a cataclysm event and the world changed completely. No good vs evil here. Just light grey vs dark grey.
Kara was well developed although I feel I could use more books about her. It’s hard to delve deeply into a character in a 300 page novel with a wide cast of characters.
Thank you BookSirens and the author for this ARC. All thoughts are my own.
Good
It is a twist and turn of suspense as you read through it. I recommend it can be for YA and up. I think the author did a good job on the story. I personally wasn’t a big fan but I also prefer more dark then this offered. I would recommend this to friends and family that is interested in fantasy.
I received an advance copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
