#1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan pushes the limits in her next novel in the Torpedo Ink series.
Isaak “Ice” Koval is on a club mission when he sees a woman who stops him dead in his tracks. Soleil is a sweet, sexy, girl-next-door type. She’s an innocent who should be nowhere near the rough-and-ready world of the Torpedo Ink motorcycle club. But Ice knows Soleil belongs with him—and he’ll do whatever it takes to keep her.
After a life of drifting from one thing to the next, Soleil Brodeur is determined to take control of her life. When her breakup with her manipulative fiancé turns ugly, Soleil searches out the stranger who offered her a lifeline and ends up in a Las Vegas biker bar where she meets a gorgeous, dangerous man straight out of her most secret fantasies.
High on adrenaline, she finds herself falling faster than she thought possible. But Soleil knows little about the territory she’s stumbled into, and even less about what it really means to be Ice’s woman.…
Feehan's overlong third Torpedo Ink romance (after Vengeance Road) teems with vigilante bikers and copious amounts of public sex. Isaak "Ice" Koval, secretary of the Torpedo Ink motorcycle club, is trailing suspected pedophiles on the Las Vegas strip when his gaze is snagged by a beautiful, unhappy-looking woman, the very sight of whom gives him his first natural erection in years. Ice is surprised when the same woman, orphaned heiress Soleil Brodeur, later stumbles into the biker bar where Torpedo Ink drinks, fleeing her physically abusive fianc . Ice instantly puts her under his protection and the pair proceed to seduce one another over the course of the night, with Soleil eagerly committing to joining the motorcycle club lifestyle. Feehan's thin plot is barely allowed to breathe between long chunks of backstory and explicit sexual encounters that don't advance the narrative, and the investigation into the pedophile ring is dropped for long chunks of the book. Unlike Soleil, many readers will find Ice's possessiveness ("You're my property... Torpedo Ink will protect you") disturbing rather than romantic. Teetering on the line between romance and erotica, this dramatic story will satisfy die-hard series fans, but turn off casual readers.
Difficult child abuse theme handled in fiction setting
All the men and women in Torpedo Ink suffered horrendous childhood abuse and this series continues to inform us of the long lasting trauma that follows them into their adult relationships. It is distressing for readers, like me, who could never imagine such abuse. Nonetheless if you can handle the nightmare inducing flashbacks and their default to violence whenever threatened, there is a strong redemption theme which is extremely appealing. The female lead here is less interesting to me than the women appearing in previous titles in this series. She is a wealthy woman who has not developed any strong personality, nor strength of character. The tempo is nonstop and Ms. Feehan’s writing style keeps you engaged at every level.
I like Feehan’s stories a lot. The lady has an imagination to beat the band. But, this book was way too sexual for me. I like a hot, sexy scene as much as the next. I even like a little kink thrown in. But, this one was just too much. Along with that, I found my mind wondering and I’d have to go back and read the page again; sometimes two or three times. I ended up skipping whole paragraphs because it was just so wordy.
Great read and great series
Awesome story as always. I love this series.
I stumbled on this author and what a great happy accident.
