characters that you want to have as friends and neighbors.
My first introduction to the McCauley brothers, I didn’t find a great deal of missing information that was integral to this story’s enjoyment, but I can say that you will want to read the first three books in the series: the fun in this series and the heart in this story are not to be missed.
Mike McCauley is a solidly alpha male with a young son: his family has been plotting and scheming for ages to get him involved with another woman since the death of his wife during Colin’s birth. In this installment, everyone is in on the plan, including Colin.
Laughter is a highlight in this story: the characters obviously enjoy and appreciate one another, and even their pranks are amusing. Poor Mike didn’t stand a chance with everyone plotting and planning, even down to Colin with his own idea of ‘the perfect woman’.
Delilah is the woman who is in everyone’s sights for Mike now. A tattooed mechanic with a hard outer shell, Del is genuine, honest and above all, kind. She and Mike have an attraction, but she is wary: different from the other women he has dated, she’s the breath of fresh air that he so desperately needs, and he is the one to make her happy.
Slowly developing the romance, Marie Harte uncovers and reveals the characters with care and depth, giving us backstory and showing the gradual development of friendships and love that are occurring. Plenty of banter and interactions between all characters that feels real and honest, with characters that you want to have as friends and neighbors.
I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
