Publisher Description

When Jamie Otis agreed to be placed in a scientifically arranged marriage on TV's most controversial and groundbreaking reality show, Married At First Sight, she knew that saying "I do" to Doug Hehner, a complete stranger, was a huge risk. What she didn't know was how to be a wife! Through trial and error -- and more ups and downs than a roller coaster -- Jamie learned to quickly negotiate all of those universal problems all newlywed couples face, from leaving the toilet seat up to winning over the in-laws. All the while, her traumatic past and unresolved issues with an ex-boyfriend threatened to derail the healthiest relationship she'd ever been in. In her shocking, unflinching and hilarious memoir, Wifey 101: Everything I Got Wrong After Finding Mr. Right, Jamie fumbles her way through the newlywed game and lives to tell the tale.

Quick good read

I watched Doug and Jamie's season of Married at First Site and I was so astounded at Jamies's terrible response to Doug that I admit that I didn't think very highly of Jamie at the time. Out of all the couples on that season, I thought for sure that Jamie and Doug wouldn't last. As the episodes progressed, you could see Jamie warming up to Doug and that was refreshing. I really wanted them to make it, mainly bc Doug deserved happiness after all his patience and kindness. After reading Jamie's book, I understand why she pushed Doug away so much. Not bc of anything he did, but bc of the demons she had. It's obvious that Jamie has come a long way since since started therapy and I hope she either continues or goes back occasionally when she needs it. My concern is why the experts on the show didn't strongly suggest that Jamie needed therapy a long time ago, or why they didn't notice that Jamie was kind of a mess during their vetting process. Jamie is a beautiful woman, with so many wonderful qualities and I know she wants to be a wonderful wife, so I hope that she and Doug can continue happily in their marriage knowing that no marriage is perfect. Of course, Doug isn't a perfect human either, but without his superhuman patience and love for her, they obviously wouldn't be together today. I know Jamie will be a wonderful mother and Doug a great father so that will be a fun part of their lives that I hope we get a peek at. Here's to the Hehner's!!

Incredible

I felt I had so many connections and so much to learn from Jamie! I took notes actively and felt very close to her even though we don’t know each other. Connection to a book is a really hard task to achieve.
